Expand Your Self

Expand Your Self

Staying within your comfort zone is what is easy, predictable and secure.  We get accustomed to how we were raised, our environment, society and what is accepted/"normal".  The problem is....did anybody ever give you the tools to step back, think for yourself (or even better.... think "out of the box")  to expand your potential?!
We are taught that the only way to expand is to keep pushing, keep facing our problems, our fears, our mental and physical limitations....when we fall to simply get back up and get back at it.  We force ourselves and are co-erced into doing something we are not ready to do.  These unrealistic expectations and fantasies create more resistance and inner turmoil by going against what is best for us at this time and this place.  We then doubt our abilities and sabotage our potential.
Personal growth is about Acceptance.  Acceptance produces self love.  When you love your body, you treat it with respect.  You nourish it with the right food, exercise and rest.  When you love your mind, you treat it as an instrument for growth.  You avoid stress, worries and anxieties.  By letting go of self judgment, self doubt, and limiting beliefs  you authentically find ways to expand in every area of your life.  When you listen to yourself and feel good about yourself, it's a lot easier to step outside of your comfort zone and be the co-creator of your destiny.  Find your true potential with us at Exodus this month.  When you are ready....we are here to guide you on your personal journey to fitness and wellness!

Partner or Group workouts have proven to be beneficial.  Working out in a group provides support, accountability, and structure not to mention can be so much more Fun!  You're more likely to complete a well-rounded exercise regime and get a potentially tougher workout then working out by yourself.  Working out in a class can give you the education, motivation and inspiration to help you meet your fitness and wellness goals and create new boundaries for your self. Group training or partner training gives you a sense of camraderie, team work and allows you to associate with people that have similar goals and interests.  Take advantage of our partner promotions and incentive programs this month.  Enjoy all the classes, workshops and events designed to promote the benefits of working with a partner at Exodus.  See you in February sharing the spirit of health with those you love.

Developing Optimal Wellness Plans for 2013

Developing Optimal Wellness Plans for 2013

At Exodus we believe in the concept of Holism.  The idea is that all of the properties of a given system (mind, body, spirit) cannot be determined or explained by the sum of the individual parts alone.  Instead, the system as a whole determines in an important way how the parts behave.  We also believe in the power of integration which is the bringing together or fusion of two or more modalities in the process of making whole.  This integrated relationship means combining the treatments of the mind, body and spirit.   This integrated approach treats the individual as a whole.  In customizing wellness plans for clients, we use these ideas to create a balance in physical health, mental health and spiritual health in order to achieve optimal health.

Developing a wellness plan is about integrating all of the major life areas in a way that supports balanced living each and every day. The seven life areas that influence our overall health and well-being are Emotional, Spiritual, Physical, Social, Environmental, Occupational, and Intellectual Wellness.  These areas are the key ingredients to an enriching, satisfying and more fulfilling life. A balanced wellness plan will foster each of these life areas rather than just one or two. It is important to remember that all of these aspects work together, each influencing the others. When right action is taken in on aspect of wellness, all other aspects are affected.

Making a wellness plan that lasts is a challenge for us all.  The best way to start is by creating a very simple plan.  A master to-do list made up of small, manageable steps to get you moving in a more positive direction. If you are consistent and adaptable, your wellness plan will help you to create lasting change in 2013 and for years to come.  You deserve to live an abundant, prosperous, happy life.  Take charge in 2013.  Happy New Year.

Tis The Season To Be Jolly

Tis The Season To Be Jolly

He who depends on himself will attain the greatest happiness”
~Chinese Proverb

I have clients come in all the time that are depressed and not happy with their lives.  They think happy people are “lucky”-that it’s magic that their relationships are healthy and their bodies are strong and their minds are clear.  They do not realize it takes work each and every day to find happiness.  It is hard work.  And like everything else takes clarity of goal, perseverance and consistency.  It is so enjoyable to teach clients the path to happiness and observe their lives transform.  I always begin by asking…. “What do you do to make yourself happy?  You should ask yourself this right now and take a moment to write it down.  After that come back and read the rest!

Here are a few enlightening quotes (some more than others!) of how to be Jolly through the Holidays and throughout the Year.

1.  Know Yourself

“Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is nobody else who is you-er than you.”
~Dr. Seuss

2.  Discover who your idealized self is and start working towards that.

“Open your eyes and look within. Are you satisfied with the life you’re living?”
~Bob Marley

3.  Be Authentic

“I’m not in this world to live up to your expectations and you’re not in this world to live up to mine.”
~Bruce Lee

“Few are those who can see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts”
~Albert Einstein

4.  Understand that you can only control yourself.

“If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, change your attitude.”
~Maya Angelou

5.  Achieve balance in all things.

“Before Enlightenment – chop wood, carry water. After Enlightenment – chop wood, carry water.”
~ Zen Buddhist Proverb

6.  Learn to let go.

“If things start happening, don’t worry, don’t stew; just go right along and you’ll start happening too.”
~Dr. Seuss

7.  Give your life meaning and actively seek your inspiration.

“Love the life you live. Live the life you love.”
~Bob Marley

8.  Focus on the positive.

“There are two ways to live; you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle”
~Albert Einstein

“Some people feel the rain. Others just get wet.”
~Bob Marley

9.  Surround yourself with like-minded people.

“A man should choose a friend who is better than himself. There are plenty of acquaintances in the world; but very few real friends”
~Chinese Proverb

10. Keep going

“If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward.”
~ Martin Luther King Jr.
